Axios: Trump’s Headquarters Considers Nikki Haley as Vice President CandidatePARI DUKOVIC/NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY

The campaign headquarters of Donald Trump is actively considering Nikki Haley as a candidate for Vice President, Axios reported, citing two people familiar with the situation.

Relations between these rivals in the Republican Party remain cool, but Trump could choose Haley if he is convinced that she will help him win the presidential election and avoid potential imprisonment, the site notes.

Republicans close to the two political heavyweights believe that reconciling Haley and Trump serves their mutual interests, despite their fierce battle in the Republican primaries and diverging views on some important issues. Trump is doing everything he can to offset the lack of funds in the battle against President Joe Biden and pay legal costs.

Meanwhile, Haley has close ties to billionaire donors who are wary of the former head of state. She will gather about 100 of her top sponsors in Charleston, South Carolina on Monday and Tuesday to thank them for their support of her presidential campaign, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Reconciling with Haley, the former US ambassador to the UN during his presidency, could also help Trump attract the votes of many influential Republicans who continued to vote for her in the primaries even after she dropped out of the race, but her name remained on the ballots. In particular, in the Indiana primaries on Tuesday, Haley received over 20% of the votes.

Trump and Haley have different views on many issues. The politician insisted on directing more funds to Ukraine and allowing the country to join NATO. The former president did not do so. Trump criticized Haley for her proposed reforms, such as increasing the retirement age for future generations.
