During his visit to Russian ships in Havana port on Saturday, President Miguel Díaz-Canel of Cuba highlighted the importance of their visit for the relationship between the two countries. This information was shared by the Russian Ambassador to Cuba, Viktor Koronelli.
“The visit of the Russian ships by President Miguel Díaz-Canel of Cuba is a significant event. He boarded two of the four ships located in Havana Bay – the submarine “Kazan” and the frigate “Admiral Gorshkov,”” the ambassador said, with his words quoted by the Telegram channel of the embassy. He also mentioned that the Cuban leader left entries in the books of honorary guests, “expressing admiration for our sailors and ships and highlighting the importance of the visit for bilateral relations.”
“Russian-Cuban relations are developing dynamically, with a rich political dialogue,” said Koronelli. “There are tangible advances in trade and economic cooperation, as well as in cultural and humanitarian areas. We are moving forward at a good, swift pace – with large steps!”
A squadron of ships from the Northern Fleet, led by the frigate “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov” and the atomic missile submarine “Kazan,” has been in Havana port since June 12. Their presence has generated great excitement among Cubans and visitors to Havana, who had the opportunity to visit the frigate for three days. During this time, the Havana waterfront was filled with people and queues at the port entrance. People shared their impressions with a correspondent from TASS, talking about their friendly relations with Russia.
On Monday, the ships will depart from Havana.
