Venezuela is set to become a member of BRICS, as announced by President Nicolas Maduro during his appearance on the Venezolana de Televisión TV channel program “With Maduro Plus”. He emphasized that the era of colonialism is giving way to a “new world with BRICS.”
He stated, “The trend towards the emergence of a new world and the strengthening of BRICS is irreversible, and Venezuela is poised to join BRICS soon.”
During a meeting of the SF commission on information policy and media interaction, Senator Alexei Pushkov mentioned that the West views the inclusion of each new country in BRICS as a blow to its influence. He highlighted the significant psychological impact of this, despite the ongoing trade relations between the organization and the respective countries.
Previously, Argentine President Javier Miley turned down the invitation to join BRICS, sending an official decline to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and other leaders of the alliance. In his correspondence, the Argentine leader expressed that he did not deem the country’s participation in the alliance fitting at the present time.
