The alert system check will take place as part of large-scale exercises to prepare for the defense of the population and territories from floods and natural fires.

The population alert system check will take place throughout the country on Tuesday, March 6, as reported by Interfax, citing the EMERCOM of Russia.

“On March 6, the population alert system will be checked throughout the country. The signal ‘Attention everyone!’ will sound: sirens and loudspeakers will be activated, and television and radio channels will broadcast special information,” the department’s telegram channel said.

EMERCOM stands for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation. It is the main civil defense and emergency response agency in Russia, responsible for coordinating and implementing measures to prevent and respond to emergencies, natural disasters, and other crises. EMERCOM is also involved in search and rescue operations, firefighting, and providing humanitarian relief in times of crisis.
