Pope Francis called Ukraine the losing side in the war with Russia and said that it should find the courage to admit this by agreeing to negotiations. The pontiff made this statement in an interview with the Swiss radio and television company RSI, which will be aired on March 20, according to Reuters. Responding to a question about Ukraine’s possible defeat, Pope Francis stated that he believes the strongest are those who think of people and see the situation and who “have the courage to raise a white flag and engage in negotiations.” In the pontiff’s opinion, negotiations can now be conducted with the help of international powers. According to him, there are many willing to act as mediators in the conflict in Ukraine, including Turkey. “Do not be ashamed to negotiate until the situation has deteriorated,” added Pope Francis.
