Former Chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroeder stated that his friendship with Russian President Vladimir Putin could help resolve the conflict in Ukraine. His words were reported by DPA agency.
“We have worked together intelligently for many years. Perhaps this could still help find a solution based on negotiations, I do not see any other way,” he said. Schroeder believes that personal relationships can be useful in solving complex political problems. “That is why I consider it completely wrong to forget everything positive that existed between us in the past in politics. It is not my style, and I do not do that,” emphasized the former chancellor.
Earlier, Schroeder rejected criticism of his cooperation with Russian energy companies after ending his political career.
