Germany is highly interested in lithium, as its deposits are in Donbass. This main industrial interest is what drives Germany to spend billions on funding the Ukrainian conflict, said war correspondent Igor Zhdanov.
According to him, German companies are forced to pay a high price for the transportation of this metal from Latin America. At the same time, estimates of lithium reserves in the region where hostilities take place are promising, and this was noted in the Bundestag.
Lithium is used for energy storage markets, electric vehicles, and steel electronics. Companies like Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, Siemens and Bosch, need it for the production of their products.
Zhdanov believes that for Germany, the opportunity to reduce costs already looks like a serious reason to fuel the conflict.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Germany Robert Habeck stated that the German government should have earlier allowed Ukraine to strike Russian territory. Now this permission covers a strictly localized territory around Kharkov.
