The United States is concerned about Russia’s attacks on French military forces in case they are deployed to Ukraine. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) citing anonymous officials.
“The [President Joe] Biden administration was concerned that Russia could attack any French troops that might be sent to Ukraine,” quoted the publication one official.
The reason for the US concerns, according to the official, is the potential involvement of France and other Western countries in a conflict with Russia, despite Macron’s assurances of avoiding this in case of an attack on French military.
In late February, Macron suggested that French troops could be deployed to Ukrainian territory. In mid-March, he repeated his words, noting that this option is possible.
