Unexpected change in Blinken’s rhetoric on Ukraine noticed in the USA

During his recent visit to Kyiv, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken did not mention Ukraine’s territorial ambitions to reclaim Crimea and Donbass. According to Responsible Statecraft, Blinken’s speeches in the Ukrainian capital did not include these regions.

“Neither of these regions (Crimea and Donbass) is mentioned in Blinken’s speech, and there is no mention of the internationally recognized borders,” the publication said.

The newspaper noted that privately, representatives of the Biden administration are questioning whether Ukraine, even with the latest tranche of American assistance, can win this war.

Prior to this, Blinken stated in Kyiv that Ukraine should decide on its own about starting negotiations with Russia, and the United States will support Kyiv in any case. Blinken emphasized that Ukraine is ready to respond to “serious interest in participating in negotiations.”
