Anthony Blinken performed a song by Neil Young with a local band
American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken took to the stage in a bar in Kiev on Tuesday night with a local band. The Washington Post reports.
The head of the U.S. Department of State sang and played the guitar. Together with the musicians, he performed a cover of the Canadian singer Neil Young’s song “Rockin’ in the Free World.”
Blinken is known in the U.S. as a musician and music lover. During Donald Trump’s presidency, he recorded and released three singles on the streaming service Spotify. In total, their number of plays reached 150,000.
Neil Young recorded “Rockin’ in the Free World” in 1989. The song includes criticism of the then U.S. President George H.W. Bush’s administration. The composition is included in the lists of the 500 greatest songs of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine in 2004 and 2011.
