US Postal Service halts acceptance of packages from China.

In 2024, the United States received four million duty-free parcels per day. Large online retailers – Chinese Shein and Temu – enjoyed duty-free imports. Trump canceled the duty-free status for goods from China worth less than $800, and now the US Postal Service must figure out how to collect duties in a new way, experts say.

The US Postal Service is suspending the acceptance of parcels from China and Hong Kong. The reasons are not specified, but Reuters notes that this was announced after Donald Trump canceled the duty-free status for goods from China worth less than $800.

Last year, the United States received four million such duty-free parcels per day. Large online retailers – Chinese Shein and Temu – used the duty-free status to deliver orders to Americans. According to experts, the USA now needs some time to figure out how to collect duties before allowing Chinese parcels to enter again.
