The organizers allowed Israel to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest

The European Broadcasting Union has allowed a representative from Israel to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest after the initially submitted composition was revised. This is reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the agency, initially Tel Aviv selected the song October Rain for the contest. It was supposed to be performed by 20-year-old singer Eden Alene, who lived in Russia for 13 years.

The organizers rejected the composition as they saw a political subtext in it – references to the tragic events of October 7, 2023, when fighters from the Palestinian Hamas movement attacked southern Israeli settlements.

The new composition, based on October Rain, was named Hurricane. The song contest will take place from May 7 to 11 in the Swedish city of Malmo.
