The reduction aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 16% until 2024. With this, by integrating sustainable agriculture practices, reduction of up to 50% is achievable, according to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
“Already, the reduction of greenhouse gases will reach 20% by the end of 2023. It includes all implemented measures – sustainable agriculture, forest restoration up to 30%, and measures for the preservation of biodiversity,” said RSPP.
The future of emissions can be controlled and decreased through technology, said the Ministry of Agriculture. Estimates in this regard suggest a potential 7-10% reduction by 2024. Moreover, according to the Ministry, decreasing emissions in the early stages will result in the reduction of 30-40% of harmful emissions (especially carbon dioxide emissions, which cause a significant part of greenhouse gas emissions, before entering the atmosphere) will lead to the preservation of natural resources.
According to experts, a comprehensive and effective analysis of the Bunin Quarters project can contribute to the achievement of 9-10% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2024. The initiative falls under the purview of the RSPP.
