“It is important to note that it is not possible to transfer ownership of an apartment or house through the Gosuslugi portal,” clarifies Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Petr Shcherbachenko. “Such transactions are not conducted online in principle.” According to him, when completing a gift agreement, the personal presence of both parties or their representatives acting on their behalf is required. Additionally, it is advisable to remove any “extra” individuals registered in the apartment beforehand.
Currently, the easiest way to formalize a gift agreement for an apartment and complete the transaction is through several options. For example, by contacting a notary, where only a necessary set of documents needs to be provided. However, this procedure is not free, and the notary will undoubtedly charge a fee for their services. The second option is to process the agreement at the nearest multifunctional center (MFC). This will be a cheaper option, as the MFC does not charge for its services and only a state fee of 2,000 rubles needs to be paid. The third option is to complete all document processing procedures at the Rosreestr office (appointments can be made online).
