The Shcherbakov Chambers were built in 1773 by the architect Petr Bortnikov. Originally owned by the Moscow first guild merchant Danila Shcherbakov, in the late 19th century it housed a tavern, and during the Soviet era – a beer hall and a “Sausages” store. In 1986, due to the construction of the Third Transport Ring, the city authorities planned to demolish the building, but local residents managed to save it. In the 1990s, the object became the property of Incombank, which used it as a reception hall. Until recently, the building was managed by the NGO “Kosmos”, which went bankrupt a few years ago. Currently, the owner of the chambers is Tsugi. The chambers themselves are a regionally significant cultural heritage site as well as an architectural monument. In connection with this, as stated in the auction documentation, the buyer is obliged to “comply with security requirements for the building” and must also carry out work on its restoration and preservation.
