The Scandy Park Made Its Way to the Northernmost Region

The Scandy Park Made Its Way to the Northernmost RegionThe nationwide network of family activity parks, Scandy Park, has launched the largest family entertainment center covering an area of 798 sq.m in the polar city of Vorkuta. The opening took place on January 13 at the MIR shopping mall. The transaction was consulted by LCM Consulting as part of the LCM Retail direction, offering services for the balanced development of retail chains in the regions of Russia.

The MIR shopping mall is a popular retail complex in the central part of the city. The tenant composition includes federal brands aimed at affordable family shopping. Scandy Park, covering an area of 798 sq.m, has become the anchor tenant and a key operator in the entertainment segment. The park’s concept represents a spacious and – crucial for the city of perpetual permafrost – warm and bright play area in a Scandinavian style. The equipment at Scandy Park was developed taking into account the Montessori early childhood development methodology. In the play area, which occupies the premises on the 1st floor of the MIR shopping mall, animators will operate year-round, hosting shows, masterclasses, and children’s birthday parties.

“Scandy Park has become the first and only leisure center of this concept and scale in Vorkuta. The appearance of a family entertainment center has become an event for families with children – on the opening day, the attendance was at its peak, despite the -33°C cold,” comments Konstantin Chizhikov, the director of development at LCM Retail. “Underdeveloped by retail northern regions are a promising direction for the development of retail chains, especially for leisure operators. This is because in harsh climatic conditions, shopping and entertainment centers often become the only option for civilized family leisure and socialization.”
