“Heart arrhythmia is a disturbance in the rhythm and frequency of heart contractions. It can be provoked by the consumption of a variety of products and beverages,” shared the specialist with “Evening Moscow.” According to Olga Redina, the products that cause heart arrhythmia primarily include caffeine. The medic advised adults to control the amount of caffeine in their diet – especially if they have chronic vascular problems. In terms of the risk of arrhythmia, dieticians consider energy drinks to be one of the most dangerous caffeine-containing beverages. In addition, alcohol can also be a provocateur of heart arrhythmia. “Consuming alcoholic beverages more than three times a week and in large amounts can cause a disturbance in heart rhythm,” warned the doctor.Redina also recommended consuming chocolate with caution. It contains theobromine and phenylethylamine (substances from cocoa) that can intensify heart rhythm. In addition, food rich in fats and spices, including sugar and salt, can affect heart rate. “Overeating sweet and salty foods increases the load on the heart and triggers its intensified work, which can lead to arrhythmia,” informed the expert.
Redina noted that experiencing accelerated heart rate after consuming certain products is a serious reason to consult a doctor. Perhaps they will find it necessary to check the heart or adjust the daily diet.
