Even queens favored natural cosmetics. For example, Empress Elizabeth would rub cabbage juice on her face and body before the bath for a fairer complexion, while Catherine II would apply apple puree on her face and chest before breakfast. Why should we be any less?

Preparing the Face

Nourishing masks made from berries and fruits contain many biologically active substances that improve metabolic processes, blood circulation, and skin nourishment. But first, you need to properly prepare your face. Thoroughly remove makeup. If you don’t have rosacea, lightly steam your face over a pot of boiling water, to which you can add mint or chamomile to open up the pores. Or simply place a hot, moist towel on your face. Note! If you have visible blood vessels on your cheeks, just wash your face with warm water and let it dry.

Do masks in courses of 15–20 procedures. The interval between courses for normal and dry skin is a week, for oily skin — 3–4 days.

Masking Rules

  • The berry or fruit pulp should be fresh.
  • Perform the procedure in the evening. At this time, the skin better absorbs beneficial substances.
  • Prepare the mask in a glass or porcelain bowl, not in plastic. Mix with a wooden pestle or mortar.
  • Place the berry pulp on gauze first, then on your face. This will prevent dripping. Make cuts for the eyes and lips in the gauze, as these areas are delicate and require special care.
  • Set aside all tasks while you have the mask on. Just relax.
  • Do not use masks if you have an allergy. First, do a test: apply the mask on the inner elbow and wait for 10 minutes.
  • Do not leave the mask on for more than 15–20 minutes. Rinse gently with water without soap. For oily skin, use cool water (you can add lemon juice), for dry skin — warm water. Pat dry and apply moisturizing cream.

Masks from Seasonal Berries and Fruits

  • Cherry (refreshing). Soak gauze in cherry juice and apply on the face.
  • Apricot (nourishing). Add 1 tbsp lemon juice (for oily skin) or cream (for dry skin) to the pulp of two apricots. Apply the mixture on the face and cover with gauze.
  • Currant (for pigmentation). Blend 10 berries, strain through a sieve to remove seeds, add 2 tbsp milk. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then add 5 drops of olive oil.
  • Strawberry (moisturizing and whitening). Mix 2 tsp strawberry puree, 2 tsp milk, and 1 tsp honey. For dry skin, you can add full-fat cottage cheese, for oily skin — egg white.
  • Pear (refreshing). Makes the skin smooth, tightens pores. Crush a cleaned pear into a puree, add kefir (for dry skin) or lemon (for oily skin).
  • Raspberry (rejuvenating). Crush raspberries into a puree, add 1 tsp homemade cottage cheese and honey.
  • Apple (mattifying). To reduce oily shine and moisturize the skin, dilute apple puree with warm milk, add whipped egg white and 1 tsp olive oil.
