In addition, psychotherapy helps to cope with symptoms of depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbances, according to the specialist.

Why chronic fatigue occurs

Asthenia is not a specific manifestation of a specific disease and can occur with a wide variety of conditions, such as:

“CFS symptoms may vary among different people, and it is difficult to explain them by other medical conditions,” says Alekhina

Prolonged fatigue. The main symptom is a feeling of tiredness that lasts for more than 6 months and does not improve with rest. This fatigue can be severe and impede normal daily activities.

Memory and concentration loss. People with CFS often complain of memory and concentration problems, sometimes called “patchy” or “foggy” thinking.

Muscle and joint pain. Many patients experience pain and tenderness in muscles and joints, similar to symptoms typical of fibromyalgia.

Insomnia and other sleep disturbances. Sleep problems, including insomnia, are common among people with CFS.

Throat pain and swollen lymph nodes. Some may experience throat pain, feeling as if they have a “cold coming on,” as well as swollen lymph nodes.

Headaches. Headaches, including migraines, may be part of CFS symptoms.

Instability and dizziness. Some people may experience a feeling of derealization and dizziness.

Sensitivity to light and sound. Patients also report increased sensitivity to light and sounds.

“It is important to note that CFS symptoms can vary in intensity and duration among different people. A diagnosis of CFS is made after ruling out other possible causes of symptoms and meeting the criteria established by medical organizations.
