Nutritionist Julia Lementina talked about beneficial alternatives to chicken meat.

“If you are allergic to chicken meat, there are many alternative sources of protein and nutrients,” Lementina says specifically for MedikForum.

  • Turkey. Birds such as turkey can provide an alternative to chicken meat. It is rich in protein and has a different taste.
  • Beef. If there is no allergy to beef, it can be an excellent alternative. It is important to choose lean meat.
  • Mutton. Lamb can also be used as an alternative, especially if you prefer a richer taste.
  • Fish: Fish is an excellent source of protein and healthy fatty acids. Choose a variety of fish.
  • Seafood. Shrimp, squid, mussels, and other seafood can also be an option.
  • Soy products. Tofu and other soy products can serve as an excellent alternative to meat.

Soy products are rich in isoflavones, which are plant compounds known for their antioxidant properties. They can help reduce the risk of various diseases, including cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancer.

Regular consumption of soy is associated with a decrease in total cholesterol and an increase in the level of “good” cholesterol. Isoflavones in soy products can have a beneficial effect on women’s health, helping to reduce the symptoms of menopause.

Nuts and seeds. Almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, peanuts, as well as chia and flax seeds can be added to dishes to increase the protein content.

Meat substitutes. There are many vegetable-based meat substitutes on the market, such as seitan, champignons, ready-made vegetarian burgers and sausages.
