The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on the provision of services that do not meet safety requirements due to closed fire exits
Two employees of “Crocus City Hall” have been accused of providing services that do not meet safety requirements, writes the newspaper “Kommersant” citing the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The main allegations are that fire exits from the hall were closed, so many spectators could not leave the burning building, resulting in about 80 people burning or suffocating from carbon monoxide while hiding in various rooms, including bathrooms. The suspects did not admit guilt. They were released on a non-departure pledge. The publication believes that this is due to the fact that the investigation is not completely confident in the guilt of the suspects.
Earlier, the son of the owner of the Crocus Group Emil Agalarov stated that all security systems at “Crocus” were functioning, the notification worked, and there was pressure in all fire hydrants. According to him, the fire protection system at “Crocus” “worked to the maximum.”
During the attack at “Crocus City Hall” on March 22, 145 people died, and about 500 were injured.
