According to the Civil Defense of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, 464 cities have been affected by the flood, with a population of 2,339,508 people. 85 citizens are missing, 806 people are injured, and 581,633 and 72,561 people are homeless and sheltered, respectively. At the same time, 82,666 people have been saved, according to the agency’s daily report.

At the same time, the Civil Defense reported that the water level in the Guaíba River, which passes through Porto Alegre – the state capital, was at 4.02 meters as of 17:00 local time on May 21, while a flood is considered at the level of 3 meters.

On May 4, it was reported that 41 people had died in floods due to heavy rains, and already on May 6, it became known that the number of victims had increased to 75, with about 100 citizens missing.
