The Russian Emergencies Ministry rescuers have found the second tourist caught in an avalanche on Kamchatka. The man turned out to be dead, as reported by the Russian Emergencies Ministry press service.
“Unfortunately, the man was found lifeless. Search efforts were conducted by a group of rescuers and volunteers, totaling around 40 participants,” stated the official telegram channel of the agency.
At the moment, the remaining tourists have descended below the incident site and set up camp. They are in communication with the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Evacuation planning for the group of tourists from the dangerous area is underway.
An avalanche on Kamchatka covered the tourists. The group of people was walking along the ridge when a strong gust of wind knocked them into the couloir, followed by an avalanche. As a result, two people were buried under the snow. The first found tourist was also found dead.
