His accomplice, a 17-year-old teenager, was sentenced to life imprisonment in the same case

A student in Pakistan has been sentenced to death for messages on WhatsApp, as reported by The Independent.

The Punjab province court stated that the defendant posted photos and videos with the intent to insult the religious feelings of Muslims.

The ruling stated that the 22-year-old young man created content containing insults to the prophet Muhammad and his wives.

The case was initiated after a person reported to the investigative authorities that they had received inappropriate materials from three numbers on the messenger.

In the same case, a 17-year-old youth was sentenced to life imprisonment. Both defendants deny their guilt.

Blasphemy in Pakistan is punishable by death. In September of last year, local courts sentenced five people to hanging. Videos and posts by the defendants on social media were presented as evidence.
