Deprivation of honorary titles for spreading fake news is provided

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, has endorsed the law on expropriating property for dissemination of fabrications about the Russian army and incitement to extremism. The corresponding document was published today on the official portal of legal information. The legislation was initiated by 395 members of the State Duma, led by the Chairman of the lower house of parliament, Vyacheslav Volodin. It introduces amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes, as reported by Interfax.

According to the law, confiscation of money or property may occur for activities directed against the security of Russia. Deprivation of honorary titles is included as a punishment for this offense. Volodin wrote in his telegram channel that “anyone who attempts to undermine Russia, betrays it, must receive well-deserved punishment and compensate the damage caused to the country using their own property.”
