Spread of the coronavirus
In Russia, a total of six cases of coronavirus infection have been officially confirmed so far. On January 31, the first two cases of infection were detected in the Tyumen and Zabaikalsky regions. Both patients are citizens of China. By mid-February, they had already recovered. On February 22, the coronavirus was confirmed in three out of eight evacuated Russians from the Diamond Princess cruise ship. They are currently quarantined in an infectious diseases hospital in Kazan. On March 3, the coronavirus was detected in two more Russians, but they are in the UAE.
The total number of cases worldwide, as of March 4, 2020, is 93,083 confirmed cases, with approximately 85% in China, according to Rospotrebnadzor. Within 24 hours, the growth rate in China was 0.2% (120 cases). Outside of China, 12,661 cases have been registered in 63 countries, with a more rapid growth rate of 19% or 2037 cases. The mortality rate is 3.4%, but the risks significantly increase for elderly people and citizens with chronic heart conditions, high blood pressure, diabetes, or respiratory problems.
