Bayern Munich drew with Real Madrid (2:2) in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. The game took place at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

According to UEFA press service, it is only the second time in history that the Munich team has started a two-legged European cup tie with a home draw of 2:2. The first time this happened was in the semi-final of the UEFA Cup in the 1995/96 season. Then, Munich won the return match against Barcelona – 2:1, and went on to win the tournament.

In total, in the history of European cups, Bayern Munich has drawn for the 12th time in the first home match of a tie. In nine cases, the Munich team was knocked out based on the aggregate of the two matches.
