Ovechkin rises to 14th place in list of top scorers in the NHL

Russian hockey player and captain of the Washington Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin, has brought his career points total in the National Hockey League (NHL) to 1533 (840 goals and 693 assists). He has tied the record of Washington forward Mark Recchi and now shares 14th place on the list of top scorers in NHL history with him.

Ovechkin registered an assist in the game against the Chicago Blackhawks. It took him 1406 games to reach 1533 points, while Recchi achieved the same in 1652 games.

Among active NHL players, the Russian falls behind only Canadian hockey player Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who holds 12th place with 1566 points in 1252 games. The top spot in the rankings belongs to Wayne Gretzky with 2857 points in 1487 games.

Alexander Ovechkin ranks second in the list of top goal scorers in NHL history with 840 goals. Wayne Gretzky holds the record with 894 goals.
