The scientists want to understand what exactly influences the exacerbation of severe pain attacks: physiology, nutrition, or the environment.

CRPS usually manifests as severe pain in the arm or leg after surgery or even a minor injury – the causes are not fully understood.

In the study, children aged 8 to 17 will participate: using Apple Watch Series 8, they will continuously monitor their pulse, blood oxygen saturation, sleep, and physical activity for six months.

All this data, plus photos of their food intake, will be constantly transmitted to the Medeloop platform, where artificial intelligence will analyze them.

The researchers hope to identify patterns in pain exacerbations and the factors that cause them, and eventually even learn to predict these exacerbations. This will help seriously ill patients improve their quality of life and better cope with the illness.
