Chinese rover ‘Chang’e-6’ collects samples of soil and takes off from the Moon

Chinese probe “Chang’e-6” took off from the surface of the Moon and entered the specified orbit around Earth’s natural satellite. This was reported by the Xinhua agency, citing the Chinese National Space Administration.

For the first time in human history, the ascent module collected soil samples from the far side of the Moon.

“The ascent module ‘Chang’e-6’ entered the specified orbit around the Moon,” the agency’s message said.

On June 2, footage was released showing the probe successfully landing on the dark side of the Moon in the pre-selected area of the South Pole-Aitken basin.
