The American corporation Microsoft has introduced a new feature in Word applications, allowing users to paste text from another source without altering the document formatting. Previously, pasting text in Word could result in significant differences in formatting compared to the original text.
To activate the paste text without formatting option, users need to go to the “File” section, then select “Options” and navigate to “Advanced”. In the window that appears, in the “Cut, copy, and paste” section, set the value of “Pasting from other programs” to “Use destination styles”. This way, the inserted text will have the font type, size, and color matching the existing text in the document.
Elements such as lists and italicized text that differ from the main text style will be preserved without conversion. To adapt them to the text, users will need to select the option “Keep text only” — this will remove the formatting of the pasted text. The new feature is currently available only for Windows users, with Mac and web versions still awaiting the option.
