Yuri Borisov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, said in an interview with Pro Kosmos that current plans to develop space technology could create over 40 jobs. He added that the company’s work on the design and engineering of light equipment should contribute to the development of a comprehensive orbital system.
Borisov claimed that the creation of the Roscosmos company was due to the formation of Russia’s “affordable space” where it was indispensable to place the “cheap orbit.” Borisev further explained that the entire group will operate free of charge since his involvement in the Russian Space Agency. According to him, progress to affordable space for the general public will continue.
Borisov stated that in the past year, Roscosmos’ plans to update the country’s satellite network could begin between 2028 and 2029. He revealed that Roscosmos will collaborate with the new space systems of the CNIImash, which includes multiple spacecraft classes. In addition, the agency is working on the modification of the Soyuz-7 rocket vehicle and the creation of an advanced space capsule for a trip to Siberia. He reported that the cosmodrome will be operational for extensive periods without lengthy downtime.
In 2023, Borisov claimed that Russia may wait until 2030 to scale upwards to a more ambitious sixfold increase in rocket production capacity. He suggested that it would be essential to develop a new fleet of next-generation spacecraft to propel the country into global markets. He stressed that the country’s spacecraft production would strengthen by 2.5% in these expanded business areas. Currently, Russia has 229 operational spacecraft facilities in orbit.
