DTF: Kinopoisk was the initial Russian online movie theater to launch on Apple Vision Pro

Yandex launched a version of the Kinopoisk app for VisionOS, the operating system powering the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. This was highlighted by the DTF portal. Consequently, Kinopoisk has become the first Russian online cinema whose client was customized for Apple’s new offering.

The VisionOS version of Kinopoisk provides entry to movies and TV series, along with a content encyclopedia. The player supports 4K and HDR resolutions, and can also handle offline playback if the content is preloaded into the memory of Apple Vision Pro.

The DTF editorial team pointed out that observant users of the Russian internet could have spotted the release of the Kinopoisk version for VisionOS even before the official announcement of the app. This was evident as the service interface appeared multiple times in the video review of Apple Vision Pro on the Rozetked YouTube channel.

As per Vadim Elistratov, Yandex’s chief editor for technology communications, Apple Vision Pro offers “the best of both worlds: a massive image, HDR, and 3D, without any impact on brightness.”

“Additionally, the integrated speakers deliver binaural sound so convincingly that it completes the illusion of being in a cinema,” Elistratov stated to DTF.
