The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan reported that five companies will receive subsidies totaling 72.5 billion yen (about $470 million).

The funds are intended to provide the computing power necessary for the operation of cloud services and artificial intelligence technologies.

Among the subsidy recipients are the telecommunications giant KDDI, as well as GMO Internet Group, Sakura Internet, Rutilea, and Hirhreso.
