The American lunar module Nova-C could not withstand the extremely low temperatures and ceased operations, according to the developer company Intuitive Machines. On March 1, it was put into a sleep mode due to the onset of the lunar night.

“This confirms that ‘Odyssey’ has permanently ceased its operations, remaining in history as the first commercial lunar module to land on the Moon,” Intuitive Machines wrote on X social network.

The Nova-C spacecraft landed on the Moon on February 23 and was supposed to operate for seven days. However, on March 1, specialists decided to check its functionality in extremely low temperature conditions while in sleep mode. The Nova-C mission was carried out by the private company Intuitive Machines and NASA. The contract cost was $118 million.
