After testing the MatePad Pro – Huawei’s flagship tablet – I am firmly convinced that the maximum potential and attractiveness of the model are revealed with the help of accessories. We are talking about the detachable Smart Magnetic Keyboard and the third-generation M-Pencil stylus. In this configuration, the device can easily be considered a personal computer at a household level.
For most users, the key difference from traditional laptops will be hiding in the HarmonyOS platform instead of Windows. So why not call it a laptop? Perhaps in the league of mobile devices, the vendor is more comfortable due to weaker competition? The largest global tablet shipments occurred 10 years ago. Since then, the global demand for this type of mobile electronics has been decreasing. Statista’s forecasts for the next five years indicate weak dynamics. The refined MatePad Pro, developed over several generations, turned out to be attractive. The thin tablet with a 13.2-inch OLED display, 2.8K resolution, peak brightness of 1000 nits, has impressively thin bezels. The useful screen area is 94%. Watching it is pleasant, and creative people working with images will appreciate the color accuracy with an E index.
These same interests can be attributed to the features of the M-Pencil stylus. It is the first stylus supporting over 10,000 levels of pressure sensitivity. This will allow artists, illustrators, designers, and other creators to draw, sketch, and create images more easily and accurately.
If we overlook the slightly stiff key press and noticeable cable under the cover, the Smart Magnetic Keyboard is an excellent accessory. The decision to split it into two parts is correct. This allows you to detach the keyboard and type text at a distance from the tablet. Performance, display, sound, autonomy, fast charging – in any of these aspects, the boundary with laptops is already blurred. The only noticeable difference may be the camera and OS.
