The Chief Freelance Specialist Psychiatrist-Narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region, Vitaly Kholdin, warned about the dangers of alcohol consumption during a flight on an airplane.
The doctor explained that alcohol during a flight exacerbates its effects on the body; one must consider the dry air and high pressure in the airplane. Additionally, alcohol thickens the blood, which can trigger a heart attack or stroke.
Other symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, and in some cases even panic attacks.
“If you have aerophobia or simply don’t know what to do, read a book, watch a movie, or talk to your neighbor. Additionally, it is important to remember safety during the flight. Alcohol can impair your reaction in case of an emergency situation, so it is necessary to maintain a clear mind,” advised the psychiatrist-narcologist.
