The French authorities have revoked their promise to grant free access to tourists for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This was announced by the French Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin, citing security issues as the reason.
Initially, it was expected that up to 600,000 people would be able to witness the main events of the Olympics opening ceremony on the banks of the Seine on July 26. Many tourists have already booked hotel rooms and purchased tickets for transportation for this event.
However, it has now been revealed that only 104,000 tourists who purchased special tickets for access to the riverbanks and bridges along the athletes’ route will be able to see the ceremony. The cost of these tickets reached up to 2,700 euros. All guests will undergo security checks and receive QR codes to pass through police checkpoints.
The Summer Olympics in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
