The airline continues to remove our compatriots from flights to Latin American countries. To clarify the situation, the Russian Embassy in Ankara sent official requests to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but no responses were received.
“The problem exists. It is unclear how much the Turkish authorities realize its seriousness,” the press service of the Russian embassy said in a statement.
Cases where our compatriots, who are transiting through Istanbul airport to Latin America, are denied boarding on flights, have been documented for several weeks.
The Turkish airline explained this policy as allegedly tightening the rules for receiving Russians in Latin American countries. Turkish Airlines published a list of them on their website in English and Turkish. However, for unknown reasons, they refused to publish it in Russian.
“We are forced to advise our citizens to carefully consider the advisability of using the services of this airline,” concluded the embassy.
